St. Georges' Sword & Bow

This musical drama, brought to us by Classical Kids LIVE!, makes the connection between classical and contemporary times, centering on an historical superstar, “the other Mozart” - Joseph Bologne, Le Chevalier de Saint-Georges. Living in our time, 13-year-old Giselle is determined to become a famous pop star, but her father makes her study music theory. The supernatural arrival of Bologne to teach her whisks Giselle back in time. She is amazed that the son of a French aristocrat and a Creole woman could become famous as a Black virtuoso violinist, composer, and swordsman in 18th-century France. Giselle realizes that her passion for music can take her life and ambitions far beyond mere fame. This matinee show’s combination of history, humor, and heart will make it a memorable afternoon for all!
